We always love our photo sessions with Robyn & her sweet little Audrey! Audrey has been coming here since before she was born, starring in Robyn’s maternity photos! She has now completed her one year photographs & it has been a joy to capture the special moments in her life so far. We love working with baby Audrey and Robyn and always look forward to them coming in. Peter helped with this session and we thought it was so cute that she was fascinated by his beard! Apparently he has that affect on women- haha!

It's Pickup Time!

With Michael Buble Christmas playing & the smell of fresh pine trees (thanks to our trusty Bath & Body Works candle) the Essenza elves are at their happiest. The front room is adorned with wrapped portraits finished with pretty bows waiting to be picked up & displayed proudly in their new home.

We are missing Angela dearly, as we wish she could see this all for herself!

We really appreciate all of our clients and sincerely love what we do at Essenza. It gives us such joy to know how many families have invited us into their lives and trusted us to capture such precious memories and milestones.

Our last day in the studio will be Friday December 23rd. Please call to arrange a pickup before then so you can have your orders for the holiday!

Ethan & Santa 2011 Limited Edition Vintage Santa Special!

A letter from Ethan's Parents:

“We brought Ethan for the Vintage Santa photo shoot convinced that this would be the last year he would believe in Santa. He was picking up on the differences of the various Santa's he had seen through the years and was putting it all together. We decided to "do it right" for what we thought might well be the last time. Essenza had us send in some information before we got there as well as had us bring over a gift for Santa to give to Ethan. This made everything so personalized.

When we walked into Essenza Studio, it had been transformed into a magical setting. Ethan was so excited he could hardly contain himself. Ethan was the center of attention. We had all these amazing people sweetly guiding Ethan through his Christmas traditions. As he played them out, we (mom and dad) were able to watch it all take place from behind the scenes. It was fun to see him recreate leaving the cookies and reading The Night Before Christmas.

Without Ethan knowing it, we saw Santa sneak up behind him. It was great! We started to cry almost immediately. Then Santa disappeared and came around to the front so Ethan could FINALLY see him! The excitement on his face was something we will never forget. It felt like it was all so real. It was very real to Ethan! Santa knew so much about him it was uncanny. They got along like they had known each other forever. Santa talked with Ethan about his Christmas list and all the things he had been doing. He was genuinely interested in what Ethan had to say. It was wonderful that Ethan had Santa all to himself for that period of time.

While we were so absorbed in it all, there were three amazing artists at work. Jen, Erica, and Peter were all focused on capturing every sweet moment. They didn't miss a thing. And they were just as into it as we were! Missy was wonderful too. She made certain I had something to wipe away the tears. It was evident that so much went in to Vintage Santa. That Santa really is Santa!

The set design was fabulous. It was warm, gorgeous... the attention to detail was amazing! We loved all the special touches. The photos are PRICELESS! Forget making any choices, plan on buying them all. Each is truly a work of art, not to mention they are magical. The beauty of it all, is that I think we got some more Santa time! Ethan believes more now than ever... and so do we!! That is something you can't put a price on. Quite simply, everything was perfect.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!

We decided to surprise Jen with balloons & treats and beat her to the studio this morning, but to OUR surprise we found Jen already there! Due to her long list of things to do for our deadline, she had a sleepover at Essenza & her alarm clock was us walking in the door! We celebrated during our lunch break with applebees, cupcakes, singing cards, gifts & even dancing! Jen's dad stopped in the studio with an adorable princess balloon & card. Its been a fun day at Essenza as we rejoice having Jen in our lives- We're so lucky!

You know it’s Christmas season at Essenza when the staff is at the studio more than at home- & Jennifer is caught in her pajamas, pulling all nighters! After realizing the numerous hours and incredible effort the Essenza team has been putting in, we decided to dedicate time together outside the studio!

We went on a retreat to Waynesville to celebrate the family-like bond that the Essenza staff has behind the scenes! It was a joyful car ride there, as we sang along to Christmas carols & debated where to go first! Embracing the rainy weather and belly’s full of Hammel House cooking, we went shopping around town! Our day flew by as we admired the antique shops and bought special presents for our loved ones.

That Sunday Angela organized a wonderful get together at Maggianos! We were served a delicious three course meal and embraced the spirit of Christmas by expressing how much we appreciate each other. Along with the gratitude, many funny stories were revealed, followed by countless laughs. We left that night with full bellies and happy spirits!

To continue the holiday celebration, we had a Secret Santa gift exchange on Monday during our lunch hour! It was exciting to finally reveal who everyone had & watch everyone open their gifts! Continuing the tradition, Angela bought mugs for everyone and we had to guess who they were for and why. This game is something we enjoy doing every year!

We not only love our job & the people we photograph, but we love the people we work with! We are so fortunate to be surrounded with such talented & remarkable people on our staff, and that’s why I am proud to say we wake up every morning with a smile and love coming to work.

"I could have never predicted the immense amount of fun I was about to have as I walked into Essenza for my senior pictures two years ago. Feeling a grand mixture of anticipation, excitement & extreme nervousness all rolled into one. I remember noticing familiar faces of upperclassmen on the gallery walls and wondering if someday my pictures might be recognized by someone too. In the dressing room I carefully arranged the outfits I had been tossing & turning over, repeatedly checking the mirror and asking my sister how my hair looked...and then the fear, "Everyone's pictures turned out so great what if mine don't?!" creeped in. But all of that nervous energy disappeared when Jen greeted me with a massive bear hug. The laughter & smiles carried me through my session and I left the studio with not only a truly memorable experience & pictures I'll proudly be showing off for years to come but also with the feeling that I had just gained some new friends."

We had the pleasure of meeting Anne Marie and Brian Price in May when they began their Great Expectations experience with Essenza. The opportunity to photograph two sessions, maternity and newborn, fully captures the enjoyment of such a special moment. Erica had the opportunity to photograph the lovely Taylor family last week. Lisa and her daughter, Samantha came in for a planning session with Bara where little Sam politely asked if she could "please meet who would be photographing her". To Erica's delight she was greeted by Samantha's delightful smile and the offering of a cheddar cheese bunny cracker. Erica & Samantha bonded over the snack and the two became fast bff's. "They were just so much fun to work with. I love showing relationships between family in portraits and I adored the interaction between the Taylor family, they were so sweet and easy-going. Samantha's full of personality with a smile to brighten anyone's day."

Tom & Tammy Booth brought a little extra joy to the studio when their adorable 5 year old Dalmatian, Raleigh, joined in on the fun"The Booth's were so warm and loving, and I wanted to capture those moments to provide them with great images to show off to family and friends." Pets become part of the family and Raleigh definitely has a standout personality in this one! He made himself right at home in the studio & turned on the charm for the camera.

Limited Edition Vintage Santa Photos November 20th only!

Erica designed this gorgeous living room set in our back camera room, and it is absolutely breath-taking. Santa came early in the year for us to meet with him and go over all of the fun details for this special day. For marketing purposes, he met with two families of children (our very own production assistant Missy's children Audrey and Justin, and our marketing director Bara's children, Pierce and Ella). Watching their faces see the real Santa was absolutely magical and emotional for all of our girls here at the studio. Bara and Missy secretly brought wrapped gifts with their names on the tag for Santa to put in his pack. After chatting awhile and talking about what they've been doing this past year like ballet, soccer, getting a new dog, and not eating enough vegetables :), Santa let them dig through his pack to see if there was anything in there for them. It was super cute, because Audrey, Justin & Ella just recently learned to read their names! Justin, who is usually quite shy, screamed to Missy, "it's Buzz!". He had just finished talking to Santa about how much he loves Buzz Lightyear and was thrilled to open up his new Buzz toy. It doesn't get any cuter than this!

Family Portrait Time for The Silverman's!

What a great time we had when the Silverman family returned to the studio! This time we had the pleasure of meeting little Eli, 7 months old! He is little brother to Sam, 3 years old. You can definitely see the proud look on Sam's face knowing that he is a big brother! Mom and Dad, Heather and Steve, had smiles on their faces ready to have beautiful photos taken of their cute little family.....(Eli and Sam were just looking around wondering what they could find in this new place while Mom and Dad were distracted by everything).

Sam immediately found the white bearskin rug! Wow- this was soft and furry...was it a dog or a cat? "I just love all the white lint I am getting on my cute clothes", thought Sam---Mom had a different idea about the lint :-)

Eli just patiently looked around while Mom held him...."When is she going to let me down, doesn't she know I can crawl?" "So many thing to look at and touch! And why not get my pants dirty too- I see big bro Sam playing in white fur! No fair!"

The photo shoot got off to a great start with Mom and little Eli. Eli put on the charm to the camera! Then Sam joined little brother Eli. He held Eli in his arms while sitting on the ground. Angela captured some great images of the two brothers interacting! So playful and fun!

Frankie's Furry Friends "Foto" Shoot!

We just had the pleasure of meeting our Furry Friends: Vicky, Susie, and Bentley.

Vicky is a beautiful, long-haired chihuahua. Started out the "foto" shoot a little shy, but warmed up to the camera as time went by. Pretty much a fluffy, fun, furry friend and great companion. Now she loves the camera! On her way out she told us to meet her at the Bark Park very soon so we can "foto" her with some of her other crazy furry friends!

Susie is a beautiful, black pomeranian. She did not want to be left out of any of the "Foto" shoot. Kept trying to steal the camera from Vickie and Bentley!
Always wanting to do different poses for us! Always had a smile on her face each time we turned the camera towards her knowing it was her time to shine! Her favorite song we found out is "Wake Up Little Susie"! (she think it's all about her:-))

Last, but definitely not least....we met Bentley! An energetic but very friendly, Mixed Terrier.
The minute he came in the door he wanted to meet everyone! The glass is always "half full "to Mr. Bentley. So excited to get his "foto" shoot! Tried to wait patiently while his other furry friends were getting their pix and poses finished. Had to leave covertly through the back door because the "Pupparazzi" was waiting for him outside the studio.....

Newborn Special

For all of 2010 we are offering complimentary newborn sessions if you bring your baby in to be photographed before they are 14 days old. When you allow us to photograph your baby so new, we will be able to see their little wrinkled features, fuzzy hair, tiny little fingers and toes...and capture the memory of that first moment when you met.

We would love to have your new little bundle of joy in our studio as soon as you leave the hospital, but we understand that's not possible for everyone. If you want those sweet sleeping snuggly poses it works best to have your baby in before 1 week old. After that first week babies become more alert and it gets a bit harder to predict their sleep time.

The best time to contact us is before your due date. That way we can schedule a planning session and have all the decisions made before they arrive.

We had such an amazing year! It's all thanks to all of our amazing clients. We have enjoyed spending time with, and creating for you this past year.

So many things to look forward to in the New Year! We wanted to let everyone know our studio will be closed between Christmas and New Years, and we are only going to have limited hours in January. This way we have a little time to plan out a full calendar of events and specials. We are so excited to share our new ideas with you! The time just flies! I can't believe that Jack's First Chapter sessions are complete. We've enjoyed watching his little personality grow more and more friendly and charming by the day! He's quite the little stinker. Angela first met Jack's parents Kyle and Tina a fews years back when they came to her for their wedding photos. Since then, we've really enjoyed watching and photographing the relationship between them and their sweet little Jack. Lots of Gratitude

You know what they say about the shoemakers son…that he didn’t have any shoes…well thanks to my wonderful friends that won’t be the case for Sam and me. Sam came into this world feeling like a superstar with the paparazzi capturing his every move. Thanks to Donna for being there to capture the magic (she has definitely seen more of me than I’m sure she ever wanted to) and thanks to my amazing doctor, Allana Oak, for helping to make Sam’s birth a truly remarkable experience. I also want to thank my nurses at St. Elizabeth’s, many of whom are my clients, for doing more than their jobs required and for being so kind and helpful. I debated about whether or not to share images from Sam’s birth, which is why it’s taken me so long to post this, and I finally decided to share a couple that truly affect me. Thank you again Donna for giving me the gift of your photography, it makes me proud to be a photographer. I also want to give my appreciation to Woo, Weese, Mama and Kwig. Thank you guys for making sure Sam is photographed regularly, for keeping the studio on track while I recovered and for making essenza such a wonderful place to work. I love you guys.

PS. After looking at the pictures again I thought I should let you know a little about Sam’s birth. It took 27 hours from start to finish. Hoping to have a natural childbirth, Scott helped me to labor naturally for the first 14 hours. He was everything I could have hoped for during those hours. At 7cm my body stalled and I was given petosin to get things moving again. At that point the pain became incredibly intense and I asked for the epidural. I was able to get some sleep, which is more than I can say for Scott and my mom. By the way, thank you mom, you were great. Thank you for giving me so much love. Finally I reached 10cm and could start pushing. I thought, “This is it, this little one will be here soon!” (At this point we still didn’t know if he was a boy or a girl.) After pushing for three and a half hours with very little progress we decided to have a c-section. The rest you can see for yourself…

Sam was born August 3 at 12:35am. He was 9 lbs., 12 oz. and 22.5 inches.

I am amazed and so grateful every time I realize that I’ve been entrusted with the care of this small miracle. Our son Sam is the most beautiful creation I have ever seen. I love to watch him sleeping. It’s pure innocence, beauty unmarred. As I watch him I imagine that this is what hope looks like in human form. He is so soft, perfect and completely trusting. His sounds lull me into a daze – his coos are like a sweet, tender tickle. Everyone said life would never be the same – they were right – I could never imagine life without him. I’ve waited so long to get to be a mom; this is the greatest gift God could ever give me. I am so full of gratitude and an undying love.

Little Man Nate!

Nate came in for his final First Chapters session this week, and I can’t believe how big he is! He was his usual jolly and charming self, wooing me with his big eyes and contagious laugh. We started out with him on a white background to finish up his FC, and had a great time. Sheila, his mommy, changed him into some jeans with a white top to do some late Mother’s Day photos. Watching them play together was so sweet. You can tell she’s his number one girl! Since he was doing so well, we ran outside to do a few by the tall grass with a little beach chair.
